hi all,
i just got my car back from the shop, and now the radio is not working.. it says "SAFE"..
The dealer want 40 to 135 dollar to reset it.. (i will try to argue for the money back from the shop, but, not sure how likely that might be)
no i can not find my radio code.
is there a way i can reset it myself?

If you bought used it maybe it's there; New, maybe not, unless you wrote it in there yourself, but since you're asking you probably didn't.
You should NOT have to pay for your code! The dealer should give it to you, then it's just a matter of entering it into the radio.
I don't think you can get your money back from the shop. They did nothing wrong. You didn't give them the code and your car isn't broken. Be happy that they undid the battery when they performed the work. Otherwise you could have ended up with some nasty shorts. In your electrical system, not your pants.

I think it could. There's a credit card sized piece missing from my manual. I didn't have mine either, and I assumed that's where it would have been. I called up my dealer and they gave it to me over the phone. Granted, I bought my car from the same Audi dealer that I got the code from. They may not be so helpful if you didn't buy from them.

Did you buy the car from an Audi dealer? I don't know if they can use the vin# or like nightkrawler said, you need the actual code off the radio. If you need the code on the radio and you didn't buy the car from the dealer, they may have to pull the radio. That would be some labor, but still, $135 is two hours worth.
I've called a dealership that I didn't buy my car from and they gave me the code over the phone too.
