I feel very confident that in my search here I haven't found anyone with the same issue. If I've missed it please direct me to the right place,...

In any case when I turn the volume up to loud (not even that loud really) the radio will cut out to loud static like its searching for a signal...yet the radio station has not changed.

Is this a amp issue? Everything about the stereo system is STOCK! This is a 1997 A4 Quattro V6 automatic. I'm sorry if this is a noob question but I'm at a loss.

I think you might have a blown speaker or two...or three. That's my guess.

Yup, definitely possible. I think over half my speakers are blown. (98.5 Bose)

,...I've not turned it up so loud to have blown them all (i don't think). Unless they blow from age. How can I check to see if I've blown them,...is pulling them the only way...it does it with playing a tape too. I don't think they are blown but I'm sure it's possible. If I turn it all the way up there it will cut out to NO sound at all...I think it must be something with the radio or amp.

if I even put some balance to the front then ALL front and back cut out.

Is this a sign of front blow speakers or front amp toast or both...are there even a front and rear amp? At least I have the rears
