especially since Subaru doesn't even build their rallye cars, Prodrive does.
That's like saying that an A4 is the same as the BTCC A4s, which is laughable.

it is a "nice" car. heated seats, electric pretty much everything, really nice interior, etc. the suby doesnt have any of that, but has more power out of the box. im not sure what we're disagreeing about. i think we're making the same point.

I think i get annoyed when I hear of the wrx being compared to the a4 on paper (not that you were doing that) because of what I said before..

you could go with a 3 series, but we have awd and the turbo (well the 1.8t anyway). not much out there with a 4 cyl turbo AND all of the ammenities that we get. i love the a4. it is such a great all around package. the power can be "easily" obtained, and i get the class i like to have in my cars. i could have gotten an evo instead of the 2nd a4, but when it comes down to it, i just love these cars

sure, they use the shell, suspension mounting locations and supposedly the engine block of the homologation car, but that's pretty much where it ends.
The STI is pretty close to the WRC car in spirit, but is much detuned. The suspension and brakes aren't even remotely close, the transmission same.
not sure what they use for differentials on the WRC car, but I can bet that they are not the same as the stock rex or STI.
But, again, the Rex and especially the STI cars are very fun, relatively inexpensive cars to drive, i actually think the STI is growing on me a little, for the pocket rocket appeal..
