After my 30K service at Don Rosen, I peeked under the hood to look for stray tools and other things the mechanics tend to leave behind. I found one screw, and an air intake that was shoehorned back in place (improperly). I never did find out where that screw belonged, and I fixed the air intake plumbing myself.
Well, today I peeked under the hood to investigate a noisy AC fan...it happened to be dark out, and I had my headlights on when I lifted the hood...whoooah! The engine bay is lit up like a christmas tree, and it's not from a glowing turbo! Something is up with the right headlight, but the airbox is in the way. I pull the airbox out, and notice that the highbeam bulb "holder" is unattached to the headlight housing! Couldn't those freakin monkeys see this when I had the car in for the 30K service??? I know it's been like this practically since delivery. I've been accumulating sand, bugs, and other road grit inside the headlight housing, but I never bothered to figure out why (doh!). Well, anyway, while I had the intake plumbing removed, I poked a flashlight down the intake path to where the screen is...and guess what? It's clogged with all kinds of road debris! You would think that the dealer monkeys would clean that screen out when changing an air filter, but no! I guess that's too much trouble, and the Audi maintenance manual doesn't specifically state that the screen needs to be cleaned out!
Audi, if you're reading this, it's little things like this that really **** me off! It's also little things like this that cause me to be distrustful of your "service technicians"!
Now, how the hell am I going to clean out the inside of that headlight housing? Grrrr! I guess I need to get a set of security torx bits to remove the three bolts. Will I have to realign the headlights after I reinstall the headlight housing? (factory xenons...if it makes a difference)

but i would check anyway.. just put your car like 5 feet from a wall (or some distance X) and mark off the tops of the cut offs with chalk or something.. do the work, and check again afterwards.. thats what i'd do anyway..
