I'm game. Let's get a group started in Columbus.I ordered mine 12/28/98 and picked it up at Byers on 4/28...4 months to the day.

Well worth the wait though...silver/onyx leatherette 1.8QTMS Autothority, tint, SP4000 225/50/16s.

Name the time and place and I'll be there.

Default Rattle in undercarriage

For a month or so I've had a rattle in my 98.5 Quattro Avant that sounds like it's from the undercarriage, hard to localize but seemingly from middle of car somewhere. I hear it mostly at low speed while accelerating or braking, but can occur anytime. Sounds like something is loose down there. I tried tightening the spare tire down and removing everything loose in the car to rule out contents as the culprit.

Clair will look at it tomorrow, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this type of rattle and has any ideas on cause. From my experience, mechanics often say they can't hear a rattle or if they can hear it they don't wind up locating the source. Thanks.

I recently had a bad strut replaced. When I would be driving at 25-35 mph, I would hear a rattle coming from the back, like the back door wasn't fully closed. It was driving me crazy. I too secured the spare, tool box, seat back, but still rattling. I had them look at it, and they found it to be the strut. I think Andy H had a loose shock, which had a similar rattle.

Hope this helps.
