Default Rattling/knocking sound when accelerating

I noticed this sound for a while, when i gas the car i hear a knocking/rattling sound from the back, usually when i gas it to high RPM, it sounds like my exhaust is maybe touching a part of the car, but i checked and its firmly on and no movement. Anyone know what else it could be? It is getting a lot more annoying now that i keep noticing it.

Default

maybe your cat innards are blown up inside your exhaust

Default bah! you have a test pipe... how did the cat look when it came out? did you have the cat

installed with your exhaust.. then put the TP in?

or did you do it all together?

Default I had a testpipe and took it out for smog, have stock Cat on, but still made the noise even with TP

I had the TP and then replaced it with my cat for SMOG, but even when i had the TP it still made the sound. I have a stock exhaust setup for now.

Default well the place that i'd suspect it'd be hitting is up near the passenger side

just aft of the downpipe... there is a bend there and sometimes that rattles.

You need to check the exhaust by crawling underneath and moving it at a bunch of different locations, not just the tip.

Default It also might expand enough when hot to touch in a place that it doesn't when cold.

I remember hearing someone say that their exhaust would "move" nearly 2" when it was at temperature. I'm not sure if I believe that it expands that much, but I guess it's possible.

a similar problem on my other A4)

Default

You could be half right, since its coming from the back it could be the muffler innards . .

Default Jeebus. The wastegate rod doesn't break externally.

The round stopper inside the housing ****slodes. A rattle noise on decel from the turbo area means a bad turbo. ( the wastegate stopper if fuxored, and cannot be replaced )

Default So are you saying that this could be the issue?

I know mine does that rattling on rev up and down.

Guess I'll know for sure once it goes Big turbo
