Did I say that? Of course I wouldn't endanger people. But I won't...
cause pain or death to an animal without an awfully good reason, just as I wouldn't to a person. Unlike the appropriately named Nasty Nate, who apparently feels no remorse at harming innocent, defenseless little animals. What a man.
And yes, before I get the inevitable sarcastic question, I have been a happy vegetarian for many years. My conscience, waistline, and blood profile are all better for it.

any consequences of the avoidance doesn't mean there aren't any.

I'm with Ray on this one. If the cat is in fact owned, then the owner obviously
cares little or not at all for the cat's wellbeing. Personally, I've got two big dogs, so cat's aren't TOO much of a problem, but I have had one try to sneak into my garage, and I've also had one digging in my flower beds, which is NOT cool. Like Ray says, I don't go looking for neighborhood cats to torment or kill, but when they come lurking around my yard or, God forbid, my car, then they get what they get. I just wish my dogs were faster 8-)

There is no way under the sun that I am swerving for any animal that isn't
big enough to hurt my car if I hit it. Deer/Moose/Cows/etc can have the right of way, but cats/squirrels/possum/etc can forget it. To endanger myself, my passengers, or other drivers is not worth it. Further, when your $30K car winds up upside down in a 10' ditch after saving the life of a squirrel, I want you to write me and tell me if you truly feel good about it. Maybe you will, but I doubt it.
