mine didn't match, so just splice old connector ends to new pad sensor wires or I believe you will have a warning light showing a brake problem on your dash!

They sell this heat shrink that has glue inside it when it heats up. IT's great for splicing in the sensors. It's called "ES1", really good stuff. The Adirondack Auto guys reccomended it.
Good luck!

Pad thickness is easily checked by looking in through gaps between wheel spokes, so personally I don't see a need for the sensors. My Porsche has them too, and I've bypassed them. '98.5 A4 (fortunately) doesn't have them.
Way they work on the Porsche is that the sensor in the pad completes the junction between the two input wires. When the pads wear down to the sensors, they break the wire connection which fires the warning lamp. So, if you take the two wire ends leading to the sensor and splice them together (I used a wire nut on the Porsche), you've defeated the system and prevented the warning light from coming on.
I believe you have a wider pad selection if you don't have to get ones with sensors.
Folks that have played with the sensor system, is the above how they work?
