Default Real crank shaft seal might be bad. Is it better to take engine off or tranny off ?

Hi.

Since the engine rebuild I did last summer, there is oil leak from the back of the engine, and I assume it is from crank seal.
I wonder how long it takes to take tranny out and replace the seal. ( I never dismounted tranny)
The thing bothers me if I'm to take tranny out is that I'll have very very VERY limited space to work on. I'm not even sure if I can take tranny out with a regular floor jack and stands.
Also, I have no tool related to tranny jobs.

Still I might go from tranny side if that takes a lot less time to work on.

Has anyone replace the rear crank seal along clutch job ??

thank you.

Default You seem to be leaning towards pulling the engine. My choice would be to drop the trans to...

change the crank seal. There is less stuff to disconnect even with the limited space it is not a bad job. Before you do that, did you check the rear cam seals? They are problematic and at the back of the engine. And a pain to replace.
