Default Really dumb noob question...... sorry tiring to learn.... washed car and I'm waxing the.... my

Question. When I wipe the wax (with a clean rag espically made for waxing) it leaves a layer of wax (kinda like when u don't wipe ur car after u wash it). So I have to change the rag to a clean side and wipe down again...... I'm on my second rag both sides and only done hlf of the car. Is this common? Sorry for the dumb question but it's my first time waxing my car...... Using turtle wax platinum series ultra gloss paste wax. I washed the car and wiped down the water..... Then let still for an hour or two so it can really dry. If I left anything out sorry. Tia

Default What kind of "rag" are you using?

It's very possible that you're caking the rag with the wax you're removing from the car. Try using less wax when you're waxing (the more you put on, the more you have to buff off), and use some QUALITY cotton towels. Go to your local bed & bath store, and buy GOOD 100% cotton towels. Clip off the tags, and wash them before using. Do NOT use fabric softener when washing it, that will cause the towels to smear fabric softener on your paint, and it will look terrible.

Default I don't think hes removing the wax, hes still at the applying stage

This is completely normal. Apply the wax and let it sit for about 2 hours. Then remove with a new Microfiber towel or as you call it a rag.

Default You might need to let it dry.

A good test to see if the wax has dried yet is to run your finger across it. If the wax smears, it's not dry yet. If your finger pushes the dried wax away, leaving no smearing behind...just clean paint, then it's ready to be buffed off.
