I know an easy way to test is to jack up the car and wiggle the wheel, I haven't had a chance to do that yet... any other tests? how hard to replace?
basically, it is making noise... increases with vehicle speed, not engine speed... I guess it COULD be the diff, but what would the symptoms of that be?

Which side does the sound seem to be coming from?
The diff would likely whine, wheel bearings tend to groan/roar.

it sounds like rear passenger side....
not sure if it changes on turns, I'll have to look into it...
how much this kinda thing cost? something I can do or easier just to pay a shop?

this is a good job to bring to a shop that has an on the car bearing tool, as it will save you huge time and $$. Generally, it's 1 to 1.5 hrs plus the bearing.
