Default those rotors dont work.... the carriers do but you need 4b0-615-601-b rear rotors

I already have them on my car.... and have for months.

Default yeah screw all that brake balance ISH....

what does audi know about using 312mm fronts and 255 rears.

I mean its not like that setup is used on the C5A6 or the B6A4.

YEAH SCREW ALL THAT.... THE S4's larger rear brakes are stupid too... they fuxor up the braking.

HELL we should all go to 232 rears like the Golf has ... maybe even drum rears.

YEAH RITZ for president.

Default frog for secretary of homeland security....I hear there's an opening.

Are you going to change the fronts to be the exact dimensions of the S4 and then the master cyl and the ABS controller and the proportioning valve? Or are you just going to f*ck around with it because you think it's cool to have bigger rotors in the back? Hell, why not go for gold plating, cryo treatment, cross drilling, and a set of ginsu knives while you're at it. Come to think of it, those hubcaps that keep spinning when the car stops are kinda cool too. Maybe those will increase your braking power too...

Increasing the rear brake capability without taking a more "total system" view is asking for trouble.

Cheers,

Default B5 S4 Rears are a direct bolt on, if you have calipers and rotors.

I have them on right now. The rotor diameter is within a few mm, the main advantage of the S4 rears is heat dissipation/warping resistance.

The S4 rotors are vented, vs the A4 single solid rotor.

What else do you want to know?

Default Upgrading to the B5 S4 rears is hardly a big brake upgrade.

The difference in rotor diameter is almost negligible.

It's about heat dissipation.

Default *Raises hand*

I had pad meltdown and massive deposition in the rear on stock brakes.

Granted, I was running street pads during a track day, but it killed my session and the remainder of my day, as well as making me wonder how the drive home was going to go. Luckily it was a late day lapping session and my drive home was ok.

I was able to find a complete set of S4 rear brakes for $150 shipped on Audifans. I considered it cheap insurance against ever having that happen again.

Plus, everybody knows I'm just an S4 Poser anyway. :-P

Default forgive me for getting in the middle of this...

the model summary for my model year says this about the brakes:

<i>"Anti-lock brake system (ABS 5.3), vacuum power assist, with asbestos-free linings, dual diagonal circuits and <b>electronic rear brake pressure proportioning</b> "</i>

would the bold section cover the bias change caused by bigger rear brakes?

just wondering.

Default The bottom line is....

Even if you could double the braking power in the rear without affecting the balance of the braking system, that's not going to make any noticible difference in the stopping power of the car. The front brakes provide the lion's share of the braking power. You'd have to increase the efficiency of the rears by several times to make any real difference in stopping distance and that's not happening. Better to spend those dollars on a mod that will make a difference unless you're just building a trailer queen.

Default *throws flag* 5 yard penalty!

You can't use that example if you were running street pads on the track...period!
