Default rear brakes

I read the tech article on replacing the rear brake pads, which was helful, but i still cant push the caliper piston back in. I bought the right tool, but still nothing. It turns, but it wont go back in. Anybody else run into this problem?

Default The "right tool" is about $70 and screws in while turning at the same time...not just the cube.

I couldn't get my 3yo rear caliper pistons to go in either without the use of this tool. I don't care how big your C-clamp is...it won't work all the time. Mine sure didn't. Have them do it at a Meineke or similar bonehead shop. They will almost surely have the proper tool for the job...which is hard to screw up.

Default Give it one more try.

Make sure your cap is off the reseviour in the master cylinder.

Also, you might try alternating the use of a c-clamp and then the tool and back again a few times.

We were able to get mine done with a spanner wrench and the c-clamp this way.

Default Instead of pushing the fluid back upstream, crack the bleeder a tiny bit, that way..

you won't push the dirty fluid back into the master cylinder(potentially)

Also, I have found that it is easiest to use a power tool, such as a drill or impact gun if you have one to turn in the piston using the correct tool, 3131 - BRAKE CALIPER SPANNER Priced at only $25.53, from Baum Tools (no affiliation)

Makes life SO much easier!!
