Default I just replaced my rear calipers, $105 a piece from Autohausaz.com

My parking brake mechanisms were sticking, and since they have 80k miles on them, I figured repairing wouldn't be worthwhile.

Default Yeah, I got a kink in my last boot too. There are really only a few subjects I can help on, so I try.

Like I said below, the actual seal deep inside will wipe the cyl bore clean as it moves out. My last job was the CRV where I got one rebuilt caliper and did the other one by hand because of a ruptured outer cyl boot like yours. The cyl had some pitting so I tossed it. So, it's a judgment call. On the A4, the rears tend to get fuged, mostly the caliper guide pins via the boots. That's what I'd really want replaced on your job, but maybe just re-do the whole thing in spring or wait until those rotors die.

Anyway, even though my wife's CRV calipers are not a "matched set", they are like butta now. (old rotors and AZ Duralast Ceramics, total cost with a new caliper and pads was about $100)

There are only a few things I can help AWers with and brakes are one of them. I diy because I am a poor slob. Not really, since I moved far away from my BOSCH Mechanic, it's just a more self-reliant situation. I think brakes are one thing a MAN should master. They come out much better than most shops who'll just slap in pads. I'll do them on the family kids car, to learn them gooder, but not on the adults...they are lost cause.
