Rear driver side pillar rattle at highway speed. What would you do?
First the dealer told us it was a wheel bearing. He changed it. The problem did go away for a while. Then it came back. Dealer replaced a couple bearings in the transmission and differential. Problem is still there.
The rattle stops if we press our hands against the plastic on rear pillar. How would you fix this? Our extended warranty ends in december and the dealer is astonishingly good at not being able to hear rattles.

Remove C pillar (depending upon year...)
Should just be one hex screw under the Airbag cap. See what's loose, secure it - or add some insulation.
Also check in the trunk as the 'prewiring' for the CD changer may be rattling around (but it seems pretty clear that the C-Pillar cover is the culprit.

I could like with a c pillar WITHOUT any cover if it will get me rid of that noise. Airbag danger?
I mean can I remove the plastic pieces on top and unscrew the whole piece while the battery is connected without risking injury?

I had to clean my C pillar last year. 2001 A4 for reference.

Same-same
Pry open the Airbag cover.
Remove the one hex screw (there is some blue loctite holding it in so it take a little force to 'break the seal', then it comes out easily.
Once the screw is out, the only thing holding it on are the internal clips (2).
Gently pry the cover off with your fingers...be careful not to apply too much force to one area so that you do not damage the C pillar cover.
Once it is off, maybe have someone else drive while you observe the area - see what's banging around - or maybe the C-pillar itself was not secured correctly? Drive with the cover off for awhile.
