Rear seatbelt ratchet

On the weekend I take my lovely wife and cute son in my chipped A4...
Only one thing really annoys me (apart from not being allowed to put my foot down, unleashing my bad-*** 18psi) and that is the way the rear seatbelt goes onto a ratchet when fully extended, forcing me to fully retract it before I can put the child seat back in the car.
Does anyone know how to disable the ratchet locking on the rear seatbelts?

No, not that kind of ratchet...
When I pull the belt out to nearly full length, it goes into a ratchet mode - I presume it's for carrying stuff where basically it retracts, but locks at that length - you can hear it clicking back until nearly fully retracted then it is released into normal operation again.

alone. I don't see it being a good thing messing with the restraint system.

like the one your son sits in, it makes sure the car seat doesn't move around. If you really don't want it to kick in then just don't pull the seatbelt out all the way when you install the seat, but that wouldn't be a very smart thing to do.
