I've got the stock standard stereo in my 00 1.8T and like to improve the sound with a simple change. I'm thinking of changing the rear speakers only. Any recommendations on speakers that would fit is greatly appreciated.

coming friday..I'm instaillin Extent 4'inch component for front...and Vega 6.5inch for rear...
but...since rear speakers are self-amplified, u should get a new after market amp...and the rear mounting is so odd that u will need some mod....
I'm trying to stick with factory rear amp..but it will be hard and complex to modify....

Do you have to run new wires from the rear speakers to the head unit or can you use the amp on the rear speakers?

Just wanna make sure...the amp for rear speakers are located on left speaker...8-wires goes through left speaker...which are pre-amp out,power,ground,output to rear right speaker..ect...It's very complicated system than found other common cars...


I'm gonna use factory wires since I'm keepin the factory amp. But u have to take fact.amp. out from left speaker....pretty much need new wiring for amp to new speakers..
