After a couple years of wearing myself out on the track trying to stay in my seat at speed, this year I sprung for a new driver's seat.
I'm a fairly sizeable guy at about 220 lbs, so most seats I tried were rather tight for me. After driving a friend's Porsche RS America with the Recaro pole position, I found it pretty comfy. After some research, I found out Recaro was releasing a "americanized" (i.e. fat-guy version) Pole Position that was 40 mm wider in the back section, otherwise identical to the Pole Position. On a whim, I called Eric at SPP up, and he set it all up. The seat took a few months to get as it was a new model, but he got me the seat, the mounts, and a bracket for the A4 and slider with no problems. Install took about 20 mins with a few adjustments of the mounting points to get the right position.
Amazingly, the seat is FAR more comfortable than stock, albeit a bit tougher to get out of. Still, now that I have the technique down, it's entirely tolerable. I hop in it every morning in a suit and head off to work with no problems. Now, I'm gutting an old A4 seat to try and add a heating element under the padding :-)
It's a few hours drive to Lime Rock, and I had no problems. The seat is a bit confining, but it's so supportive that I expereinced no fatigue. On the track, it nearly doubled my confidence. MUCH easier to feel what the car is doing. It's one of the best mods i've done to date.
For those wondering, the seat probably weighed 10-12 lbs by itself, but after adding all the hardware, I doubt there was much weight savings over my stock sport cloth manual seats. My car is a 97, so the stock seats have no airbag.
The install was easy enough that end the end of the season I'll pop my OEM seat back in at the same time the summer wheels come off.

you can get a lumbar support cushion which helps.
btw my trick to get out of the car is to use the "oh-sh*t" handle, heh
regards,
Liam

Eric did hook me up nicely, but in fairness to him I'd rather not disclose it because I'm sure he doesn't want a rush of "I heard you sold this to some guy for xx" type of stuff.
I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you should he choose though. Give him a call!
