Default Recent Mods...Including the new Stratmosphere/Milltek 2.75" Exhaust!

Over the holiday weekend I decided to take Pete from Stratmosphere up on his offer to install and test the new 2.75" Milltek Exhaust. I'm very glad that I did! It is absolutely the sweetest sounding exhaust I've heard on a 4 cylinder yet! We tried to get some digital audio, but it just wasn't happening. I'll try again when the weather clears up here. Initial impressions are that the system has slightly decreased spool-up time and lowered EGTs (both likely because of the decreased back-pressure). As some of you might remember I already had a B&B Triflo v1 (first gen APR) on my car. Not to slight any of the other fine systems out there, but the quality/construction of this unit is highest I've seen (slightly better design, yet similar construction to the APR system).

While visiting the Stratmosphere Ranch I was amazed at how nice and professional Pete and Bob were. They are truely stand-up guys that want to sell only the best stuff and to have happy customers. I'm not trying to sell their product, just tell you how I see it.

Here are a couple pics taken after a long ride back from NY in the rain. Please excuse the quality and dirt. I'll have the car on a lift this weekend and get some better pics.

Another recent mod was the installation of a set of Plasma Boosters sold by Ignition Solutions. They were easy to install and have reduced engine knock at high pressure to almost nothing. I'm hoping that this may allow me to run higher boost pressure with the right tuning. Laura from Ignition Solutions was a plesure to deal with and everything went as planned. If you're interested you can find them at: http://www.ignitionsolutions.com/Installations/cars/vwpassat2001/vwpassat2001.html

Since I'm at it...here is a picture of my K04 and TAP racing cat.

Default Will do... the first ten attempts gave us a lot of wind noise and clipping.

Maybe someone has some ideas on how to do it?

We used a Sony Mini-disc hooked to a mic taped to the rear bumper, which has worked in the past, but wasn't cutting it this time. We then tried recording it from inside the car...the gain levels were giving us hell. Maybe we'll have better luck this weekend.

Did your pulley go on with out a problem? Is it a direct bolt on?

Default Coils are in the $460 range and yup installed them about a month ago.

You can also sell them your stock coils for a small core refund (~$40 bucks for the set).

Default Pulley is a direct bolt on and went on without a hitch, but...

I installed it at the same time I was putting the electric fan kit, new thermostat and Front Mount Intercooler in so we had the front of the car pretty well torn apart.

I've run that setup for a few months a 2k miles without any problems. The underdrive pulley still allow the alternator to put out plenty of power (gauge still reads 13.8-14.3 volts with lights on).

Default i ask because the 01 cars are much different than the 2k cars.

I notice 01 car have a slighly different bolt pattern. I match it up to a 99 B5(passat)pulley to the UR Pulley and it matched. So i was wondering if it was just my pulley to double check.

I finally got it on with a lot of drilling!
