recommendations for door trim w/ S4 side skirts...
I finally bought some primed new S4 sides for $190. I have been looking into the options for door trim. So far ive looked at:
OEM S4 trim - very expensive
trim-gard
cutting stock trim to fit and paint. - questionable fit/finish.
Do yall have any other suggestions.
TIA

this may be an obvious question, but how does this trim molding work exactly? i plan on doing the same thing, and i'm assuming the following:
- S4 side skirts replace the lower black plastic part leaving the black plastic on the lower part of the doors.
with that said, does this molding (the trim guard) cover up or replace the plastic left on the doors. if so, is this something you get painted after you get the molding or can you get it shipped in the same silver color as your car (iwasawesome), which is the color of mine.
i'll get some of the molding stuff now and dick around with this until i get the skirts if it's as easy as i'm thinking this is.

The molding does need to be painted.....
Also when you remove the stock lower door trim it leave little stud on the bottom of the door. Twist them off with a set of pliers and apply some prime to the spots so they won't rust. The Trimguard is adhesive backed and sticks right on.

Re: The molding does need to be painted.....
dude, perfect post. pictures are a million times better than text. i now pretty much know everything i need to know. my next question would be do the OEM skirts fit on perfectly 1:1 or is there much more work required.
however, i'm quite positive that can easily be searched for.
yur car looks clean as hell. i saw a red one with painted lowers and just couldn't tell. only a side angle. this has pretty much confirmed painted back, s4 sides, oettinger front, and lltek grille (upper and lower w/ the lower painted fill in ones). after winter i'll have debt paid off and why get a bunch of **** done just before winter.
cheers man.

S4 skirts mount right up.....
There is a tech article that has a full run down of the parts and what needs to be done. A lot of the stuff you can skip. The important things you need are the rear mudflap brakets and there are 10 rings & 10 caps (P/N 8A0-854-953). The metal brackets are not needed and I did not remove the under door sills. The S4 skirts fit right over the top, just use some good quality 3M thin double sided tape.
