...important in your sys. They establish the the soundstage, provide 85-90% of all instrument imaging, and because they are responsible for 75% of your mid-bass through highs, clarity and ease of material reproduction is paramount.
Good luck and nice ride!

How much are you dedicating to the subs?
If you are worried about destroying the speakers, don't. Distortion destoys speaker not power.
Also, 150 watts is only 1.5 decibals louder than 100 watts all things being equal. The diff. is that the 150 will be "cleaner" and more "effortless" in it's delivery.
Have you purchased the amps already?

I've ran MBQs that called for 70 watt and I was throwing 150 at them...no issues but that was using high end amps of the day (PPI Art series)
Back when IASCA ment something

Kick *** amps! I made the mistake of selling them with my Integra...I kinda regret that now.
Anyway, T-28, I agree with the others. If the MBQ's are rated at 150/channel, feed them that if you can. Distortion will kill the speaker...and distortion is usually the result of matching an underpowered amp with a set of speakers. Feed the MBQ's what they like, and they will sound more "effortless" as vtec describes.

after reading your post. it just sounds like that is a ton for just components. I'm going to give 2 jl 10w3 subs 500x1 and wire them parallel at 2 ohms from a PPI.

...that's a pretty low impedance for a sub amp. PPI are known for being rather inefficient and running hot. I'm sure it'll be fine but if it goes into "protection mode" a few times keep an eye on it.
Anyway is your heart set on keeping it a PPI amped sys?
