while it works well in a pump fed system like an engine. it's low friction doesn't splash well so the upper part of a gearbox may not get sufficient lube.

Diff lube is not rocket science, it's in fact the simplest feat of Audi ownership. G-5 is the spec and suitable lube can be found at a hardware store. I stand by the DuraBlend recommendation.
