Default Remote / Key Question

Ok, I have an early 98' 2.8Q
Mine has the separate metal key and standalone remote. The remote has gotten extremely beaten up and it's time to replace it.
I have read the FAQ and it seems to be no big deal to reprogram another remote.

Couple of questions:
A) can I use any remote from an A4 - I was planning to buy one from ebay (probably one that was incorporated into a switchblade key, as that seems that most of them are), and just program it to my car. Mine has the "3" button setup of lock, unlock, and panic at the top. Some of the remotes I have seen appear to have 4 buttons lock, unlock, panic and a trunk button in the middle, Will this remote work with my car, or will any of the switchblade style remotes work?

Secondly, Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the security system harness located underneath the rear seat? I would consider doing an aftermarket alarm with keyless entry, and I would assume that is the simplest place to wire it up. I cant seem to find the diagram in my bentley manual..

Best wishes and take care,
George
