Hi - does anyone know if there is a way to extend the range of the cars keyless entry?

Thanks

There is a TSB if its an older remote, otherwise no. You can check the archives for typical range

Hold the transmitter to your chin as you press the button.

Holding remote to forehead will double the range

The chin's a bit less conspicuous but just as effective.

Default Isn't a shorter Keyless Entry remote range a security feature? Why does everyone want it extended?

I have seen a lot of complaints about the range of the Keyless Entry remote. I have a 97 2.8Qms and my Keyless Entry remote works from about 15-20 feet or so, which I think is fine because I really don't have a need (and in fact would find it very difficult) to enter the car from further than 20 feet away.

Also, if someone steals your keys and the remote had some ridiculous range capabilities, the thief could stand at the door of the mall or gym or at the entrance to the airport parking lot, press the panic button for a second and instantly know which car they had the keys to and where it was. Granted, there probably aren't that many Audis in any given parking lot at one time, but I'd at least like to know that a thief had to spend some serious time walking the lot looking for Audi rings and pressing the unlock button a lot to find my car.

I don't mean to pick on you for asking a question, because lots of others have asked the same thing. I'm just curious as to why so many people want to be able to lock/unlock their cars from such a great distance. Maybe there are advantages/reasons for having a super-extended remote range, but I can't think of any right now.
