The (old style) remote for my 1996 grew weaker and weaker, and finally stopped working. I replaced the battery, but it no longer worked. Tried the recode routine in the Tech section (ignition on, other key to lock the door, then press remote "open") but it didn't work either. Any thoughts? Is there perhaps a different recode necessary for that year?

you must press and hold both lock and unlock simultaneously.

the flat remote is the oddball one, I have them and the above is the programming procedure.
