Remote Range A6 to A4

Ok, I've asked the service techs @ two of my local Audi dealers (Prestige Imports & McDonald AG), and they both say that the remote key system used on the A4 is the same system as on the Audi A6.
But they both can't be the same systems, because the A6 transmitter works furthest. I could even lock/unlock the doors from the 10th floor of my office when I had the A6, but currently have to stand 5 ft away from my A4 in order to do the same thing.
I already got tha batteries replaced on my A4's remote key, and it still does not work very far.
So I'm asking those of you here @ Audi World if there IS a difference between the A4's remote transmitter system range and the A6's. It can't be the exact same! My dealers wrong..

I think there is an inherent flaw in the design of this system. My A4 had poor range, my A6 had better range, and my current S4 has great range sometimes and hardly works at other times.
I have met people who have had a second receiver mounted in their cars for better reception but this didn't help either.

A friend of mine had a 96 A4 and stated the range of his remote was 100% better than his 98. I too have spotty range with my 98. It seems best to push the button and hold while you walk to the car until it unlocks. Locking, I can be up to abut 75 foot. Go figure.
