Im not sure if the rca serves the same purpose as the remote signal wire, i dont know too much about car audio.
but im trying to hook up an amp and sub to aftermarket stereo.
also, is there supposed to be a fuse between the power wire and the amp, other than the one right after the battery?
thanks.

RCA carries the sound to the amp. The remote signal wire tells the amp when it's okay to turn on. You don't want an amp "idling" on your battery while you're away for three weeks, you want it OFF.
You only need one fuse between the battery and the amp. That fuse should reside within 12" of the battery. The fuse should have the same value as the fuse on the amp itself. If the amp has multiple fuses, add up their cummulative value, and that's the value of the fuse you need to use near the battery.

The remote signal physically "tells" the amp to turn on, without it, no amp power. As far as fuses, it is critical to have one near the battery.
This one will protect you from a car fire in the event of a power wire short.
Additional fuses are not necessary, but there is usually one in the amp itself to protect the power supply. Check the audio forum for good general reading on stereo stuff. Good luck.
