I am thinking about removing the front seats to clean the carpet underneath.
My first concern is removing the seats, I have powered driver and manual passenger front seats. How difficult are they to remove? Any danger of breaking anything. There is a good short write-up by qfrog here

Anyone want to add to that?
Also, once the seats are out, what carpet cleaner would be the best to use? I have been just using the vacuum, but now want to use a cleaner to get rid of the layer of dirt that has accumulated over the years.

to do a cleaning on even a filthy carpet. Even though it takes time to dry ,it always seem to do a nice job. If you can find it Eagle 1 made a spot cleaner that was great for the real bad areas. I myself wouldn't remove my seats . I've fully cleaned my floor and never found it to be necessary. One other tip, cold beer on a hot day and some Carolina style BBQ with slaw,if you truly are a Duke boy.
