Remus Muffler Without Resonator?

Remus Muffler Without Resonator?
I recently installed the Remus muffler (from Audi) on my 99 A4 1.8T Quattro and was quite disappointed at how quiet the car was with the new muffler. Prior to installing it I ran it a bit with just the resonator in place and it was pretty quiet, a bad sign for someone looking for a sportier sounding car.
Is anyone out there running the Remus without the resonator? Is it annoyingly loud, or just aggressive sounding? I am trying to figure out how to salvage what I already started and I can either go without the resonator, or take a chance with another one like that made by Supersprint.
Thanks.
John

Remus is notorious for being quiet...why'd you pick it then?
I wouldn't take the resonator out, it does just that gives you resonance with it off. It'll sound like **** and the exhaust will have an "untuned" sound. When I had my resonator off it sounded like it was choking in water.

I guess the proper fix would have been a cat-back system to get rid of the stock resonator. I ran the engine with the muffler cut off and it was very quiet. I may have to experiment with another resonator.

Re: im running the remus dtm without the resonator..
Thanks for the info.
How did you replace the resonator? Did you replace everything from the cat to the muffler with a custom pipe, or just get a section to replace the resonator?
Thanks,
John

You should have bought a cat back system. They are tuned by the mfr.
I have the Remus with the resonator but I have the 2.8L and love the sound. On the 2.8 those who have removed the resonator have said it is too loud. The 1.8T does well with tuned cat back system - cause you want to open up the exhaust after the turbo to let it spool up faster. No advantage with the 2.8 like that. If I were you I would try to sell the Remus to a 2.8 owner and get a full cat back system.
