just got my Estimate back from Audi to fix my 2 1/2" dent from
the inconsiderate bastard parker along with repairs to the bumper.
The dent is such that it's 'buckled' so Paintless dent removal isnt
an option. It will need to be repaired and repainted! Along with the
entire front bumper. The labor alone is 8 hours for taking the bumper on
and off and 6 for the painting! $768 total. Its a tiny dent. The Audi
guy said he did body work for 22 years and he knows it cant be done
paintless.
Does anyone have a differing opinion as to why I should believe this dent
can be removed paintless. I really really have had bad experiences with
resprays especially plastic bumpers and if there is anything anyone can
sway my opinion with, please let me know.
It's not about the cost, I just wnat my car to be perfect. its such a
miniscule dent and it seems like overkill to do it all like this. We're
talking 1 hour labor to sand and buff. The dent is tiny. What's the deal?
Sand and buff?
It's on the front drivers side fender. They have to remove the bumper to fix the dent and repaint it. I think thats nuts. It really is small and I've seen pix of other peoples dents and they fixed them paintless...
Help!

You want it perfect, right? Perfection costs more. When I had a dent (no way was this one paintless) they prepped and painted the whole panel. They also used a blending technique on all the adjacent panels so that there would be no line between old and new paint.
Not cheap but it's perfect. Also helps to select a good shop known for it's quality work.
It it's truly a minor little dent you could try a shop that specializes in paintless dent removal and if it doesn't come out right, have it done over the conventional way.
