Need a little help. We got a pain in the *** hailstorm here in the Chicago area about 3 to 4 weeks ago. The car has about 30 dings on trunk, roof, hood and upperside portions. My Audi dealer recommended an Audi authorized body shop that will do the job for 5 to 6k with a full repaint. He states he applies heat to the ding to bring them up and flatten them out. He says the repaint will be better than the factory paint job, the hole process takes 10 days and he warrantees paint job for the life of the car. (by the way he owns 2 Audi's).
Should I be leery of a new paint job and go to a dent specialist and try to save the org factory Pearl paint. Has anyone had experience with either, or both? Don't know how the dent guy would get to the roof dents with the moon roof in the way. PS I still don't know if my insurance company will pay for the paint job, waiting for the inspection.
Thanks for your advice.

From my experience with about 3 repaints over my 30 years of driving, repaints NEVER hold up as well as OE and rarely look as good - especially Pearl (had a Pearl White Coupe Quattro redone about 5-6 years ago). They cannot bake paint on as well as factory; seems to chip easier. If the paint is undamaged, would recommend the dent specialist (Dent Wizard, etc.) I was really impressed with what they were able to do on a trunk bulge on my Porsche.

I have three dents on my hood, one substantial and all on body curves.
The two small ones are 100% gone, the big one (5" across) is 99% gone.
$137 Dent Wizard.
No repaint necessary. Your dealer will always suggest the traditional way because that is all they know.
It costs you nothing to have Dent Wizard check your car to see if they can do it.
