Repainting Mess!

I just had my recently purchased 96 a4 repainted by the dealer (who sent it to an independant body shop) because of some scratches I noticed on the hood. The color is emerald mica green, the paint looked fine at first but the more I look at it, the more i'm noticing the difference. The new paint is lighter than the rest of the car. I've heard reports of the paint being darker at first, but not lighter. I opened the hood today and noticed on the corner of the hood where the old and new paints meet, that the new paint is definitly lighter than the original color. My question is, how much will it cost to have it repainted? How can I be sure another paint job will be better? Should I ask the body shop what procedures they use? What are good procedures for painting a car?
