The stock alarm horn is located somewhere in the drivers side trunk, behind the trim panel where the cd changer is. So, you should be able to get at it, disconnect it, extend the two wires up to the underhood area, and attach them to the siren of your choice. The problem is that the stock alarm is "pulse output" meaning that when it goes off, it beeps....stop....beeps.....stop etc. where normal alarms are "continuous" output to wail constantly all the time. Take this info to any GOOD alarm installer and they can advise you on what can be done. The output should still be 12v, so choose your favorite siren! Mine would be from CODE alarm, but they are continuous. Oh, and Hella air horns would be another option, as the pulse output would be Ok for them!
And as always, Good Luck, and post the results here if you are successful!!!!<p>CaryB, '99 1.8T
