battery light is still on
i'm guessing break in a wire?
or should I charge the car up to 14v and see if that fixes anything? I just want the battery light gone

You might see what the volts are on the battery(stand alone). If the battery checks out as relatively OK, then check for a draw. You might re-check the wiring and connections. Sounds like its running on the battery power alone.
Hope you have heat in that garage, temp seemed to really drop out there today(snow level on the passes 3000ft).

check the resistance on the wire. either that or you dont have power to your voltage regulator.
