You need to follow, and verify, both. One, the smaller, goes back to a pick connections that is just like the AC clutch connector, it is under the coolant jug. This is the signal wire to tell the alternator to run.
The other, larger wire goes to the starter, where it connects to the main battery feed. Of course,if you miss this, all that voltage goes nowhere.
My money is on the small signal wire.

and they never seem to replace the regualtor. Just buy an amp meter, see what coming of the alt is what i would check first.

rebuilders often mess up. and like teh noob below me said ive had bosch hitachi and valeo units brand new out of the box fail on me.
idk if there is an actual ground strap for the alternator but i figured the main ground comes from its mount which is mounted on the block. which is of course grounded. so i highly doubt ground is a problem
double check your connections on the alternator. and the harness connector. i light connector cleaning and some dielectric grease can go a long way. you can check for resistance in the B+ cable for peice of mind. if all else ok. get another alternator.
you have a bentley. take a peak at the wiring diagram for the charging system. see if theres any type of circuit breakers you might have accidentally popped

and the bat. light is on all the while.. and then I rev to about 1500
rpm and the light goes out not returning until I restart car.
I had my entire electrical system checked out, and even with
different alternators same story.
Do you think the small wire may need replacing? Or do you think
the connection is possibly corroded what should I look for?
Thanks!
