Bilstein sport ~$480
Koni Sport ~$620
Sachs ~$600
Eibach ~$450

So i'm guessing some of the better shocks from advanced auto parts wouldnt be good

Hmmm...I just replaced my shocks on my 2001 A4...I looked for about 3 months for replacement shocks that were cheap..only 3 companies I found that made good shocks for my car were Koni, Bilstein, and Boge.no one else really makes em...I went with the Koni yellows i was told they givbe the best over all ride..but there really is no point to the adjustable thing, u can only do it once....hope this helps best of luck

Default Bilstein HD are appropriate for the stock (non-sport) suspension.

The various sport shocks have shafts that are too short, and they are too firm.
