Default Replacing torn outer CV boot; same as on Vdub?

Don't have the Bentley's for this car yet. Remove the cv shaft from the car or leave it in? can it be removed from the knuckle without scrwing up front alignment? Does the outer joint basically just pound off and then slide back on, as with a Vdub (A2, A3, etc) CV shaft? Some of them I know have a small circlip inside that must be removed first. Tips appreciated here...many thanks!

Default Leave shaft attached...

SZhouldn't need an alignment. If you take the outer CV off, you will need a new circlip.

Default Kris Hansen is your friend...

his writeup is in the <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel37.shtml">techsection</a>

enjoy.

it's a messy job, but not too difficult. And if you're good, you shouldn't need an alignment after you're done.
