stayed in a hotel a block from a corporate audi showroom, where they had four new A4s on the floor. gonna ruffle some feathers here, but 'in the flesh' the new car looks great. better than in pictures, imho. rear looks nice and has sharper edges than A6 trunk. and front end is much nicer than current model, again imho. much as i like my car, i find front grille imitative, or at least ordinary (look at a ford crown vic taxi, or any number of hondas.) and in europe, at least, there's a color that is a gray metallic that looks really nice. we'd call it gunmetal i guess.
the mercedes showroom across the street had one of every model, all in silver. what a display. also, there was a building devoted entirely to car displays, with vw having the most space, but alfa, skoda, others there, and rolls-royce and bentley were right on the corner, and on display there was the big bugatti sedan, the EB62 or something like that.
on the streets there were lots and lots of TTs. more than any other two-seater. also saw tons of A3s making me wish more than ever that we'd get them. and i saw one A2 on the street and another on display in the frankfurt airport. great front view, less exciting rear design - rear reminds me of the last scirocco, pre-corrado.
one OT funny: can't read german, but one newspaper showed all bush's cabinet picks, with descriptions of their qualifications/backgrounds. here's the description for wisconsin governor tommy thompson: GESHUNDHEITMINISTER

middle of winter, terrible weather, snow on the ground when we got there. i saw NO modded cars, and no hot cars at all. would have loved to have seen an RS4. new 911 turbo was the one neat car i saw.
heh heh, wish i'd had MY car there.....
