Ripples in front windshield?

I recently purchased my first Audi last weekend.
It's an Audi 99.5 A4 2.8 Quatro. It is a great car, and I love to drive it. One odd thing though that I have noticed.
If I sit in the driver's seat and look across and
through the passenger's side of the front windshield I notice some slight "ripples" in the glass.
I can see these if I move my head slightly back
and forth. An object that I will be focusing on
looks rippled through the windshield.
While looking ahead I don't notice anything wrong, only when I look across the car, at an angle through the windshield.
Has anyone else noticed this before? Is this something I should be concerned about?
My previous car was an '87 Chevy Celebrity with a pretty flat font windshield, so I did not know
if the ripply affect could be because of the
curve of the A4's windshield.
Any help would be appreciated!

... Seems it's a pretty common defect of all A4s, from 96 on. Mine has the ripples in the windshield and a horizontal distortion on the top of the back window.
Anyway, there seems to be no known fix for this. I seem to recall somebody here testing tens of pieces without finding a defect-free one.
Good luck, hope it doesn't give you a headache or anything,

...far worse than any I've seen in the A4. I saw an Acura recently where all the windows had distortion. I'm guessing that the shape of the glass, as well as efforts to make glass more safe and lighter weight, play a part in the distortion. Obviously, if it is unnaceptible, you should see about replacing it, but you will probably not find a totally distortion free windshield.

I have a new A4,.. yup the ripples are there bigtime, however I also had a 96 Honda Accord,, it also had the ripples but not as bad. As I drive around town and look at other cars, you can see the ripples in many vehicles, i figure its part of a new manufacturing prosses that must be "cheaper".
