Anyone using something of substance on the roof of the Avant. I like the look of the "ski boxes", but they look awfully small, and don't seem like much other than ski-sized objects can be put in there, plus they seem to be outrageously priced....ie....i need to haul baby stuff. What other larger carriers are out there?

They have a variety of sizes of roof boxes - some more boxy than the ski ones, as well as open cages, etc.
I've also seen a gigantic samsonite roof bag on a wagon before. Don't know where to get it though.
Tom Van Ness

I have the Thule Weekender and definitely recommend it.
I use it to haul kid/beach stuff and you'd be surprised at how much fits in! I have put 2 beach chairs, mini cooler, stroller, and 2-3 soft duffles without a problem.
The only drawback is that your gas mileage will drop by ~40%...
I bought mine local from Outdoor Sports in Wilton, CT about two years ago. They have a discount website www.outdoorsports.com and call themselves Car Racks Direct where you can see all the pricing for both Thule and Yak stuff.
Good luck.
