Okay, you're right...
the center of the bar runs close to the firewall but doesn't appear to actually touch it. I can't see down there, but feeling around, the tab bends in towards the firewall, and on the other side is a bolt, identical to the other four used to secure the strut bar. So there you have it!

wow now thats something...thanks a **** load...
just checked etka...its calls out 5 bolts. which would explain the firewall being bolted.
not now...not even tomorrow...but when you are in that part of the engine with a camera could you take a shot of it? thanks for all your help!

Take a shot of what?
I couldn't see jack in there...I had to stick my hand...errr, let me rephrase...I had to feel around down there! The only thing that's visible is the bolt going through the firewall on the engine bay side. Can't get any pictures of the battery side of that firewall.
