Default Safe to drive with MIL light on?

I got my car back from a scheduled maintenance and the malfunction indicator light came on. The earliest the Audi shop can see me is a week from now. The car seems to be running fine notwithstanding the light (which is on constantly -- not blinking). I'm guessing they just forgot to tighten something or that the work they did triggered the light temporarily. How commonly does this light come on? Would you have any qualms about driving with it on if the car seemed asymptomatic?
kl

Thanks, WJM -- what do you think the light is on for, if everything seems to run fine?
kl

Default honestly dont know.

I was at the dealer a few days ago and they mentioned that it happens fairly often for multiple reasons, and not to worry unless the car started to not act properly. I trust my dealer.
