Never really paid much attention to this but since I've cooked two turbos this year you bet your *** I am now.
Most of the time my oil temps are only a tad above the 150 mark. Today it was at 175. I left my car idling for almost 10 minutes and it didn't lower any. I'm assuming because thats probably what the coolant temp was.
Any ideas or recommendations? I have dino oil in now, but just for a week, wanted to make sure nothing was leaking so I don't waste any synthetic.
Will be adding a turbo timer soon...

letting the turbo cool down before I stop the flow of oil. Simply done by driving mellow last couple miles to whereever I'm going.

Do yourself a favor and dont wait till your oil drops to 150*, weird that you are only hitting 175 too, i hit 210-225* daily.

and I listen till it finishes. I also drive about 5 miles under no boost before doing so. TT is a waste of money and this helps me sleep better at night

keep in mind i have the S4 oil cooler installed.
and when the temps are above 210F, i turn on the A/C fan manually (courtesy of my A/C fan mod), which cools things down quicker than just sitting and idling.

The problem is the oil sitting in the red-hot turbo and coking up, not the temperature of the oil.
