saving for a turbo upgrade but dont know what to consider....

Depends what kind of power you want to make...You can get the new FX k04 software or go GTRS w\uni..
APR does have software for the 01 model as SilverStreakin and many others are running it with no probs (to my knowledge). I'm not too sure on the software for the PES setup on DBW cars.

the bigger the turbo, the later the spool
so yeah, a GT28RS should keep pretty decent (although gutless) daily drivability under 3k RPMs.
the K04 is borderline, as it spools a little later than the stock K03 but hits with a ton of torque
i've just recently figured out some problems (throttle cable, of all things), and it feels much livelier now. Pulls very hard! has been a damn good bang for the buck, as I've purchased everything except my adj. FPR at crazy low prices.
