Okay - after reading all of the scenic drives in the southern California area, I finally had the opportunity to head out to the east coast here in Canada to enjoy both the amazing scenary and the fun drive as shown below.

This is the Cabot Trail that runs through the Cape Breton Highlands in Nova Scotia. The picture above was taken at the end of the Skyline Trail (hiking - most popular trail) looking back at the highway. The Cabot Trail includes a lot of downhill runs requiring heavy braking and using a high gear to keep the speed sane, climbs that definetly increased the oil temp and a lot of fun turns. Definetly a lot of blind curves!
The car I have is stock - with the sport suspension it's about right for the trip out east due to the rough roads, rocks, etc., and power is good even with the trunk full of camping stuff, though I can't say the same with 36C weather in Toronto. The only complaint through the entire trip is the ton of rattling I'm getting from the driver side which I still can't figure out but it does have something to do with the window.
So if anybody gets the chance - take a tour of the Cape Bretons and do some site seeing - it's great to go through and for some fun driving. Just drive to Moncton, Nova Scotia and from there everything is pretty close. From Toronto, you're looking at a 15 hours.
Mark H - thanks for the travel tips! You definetly should have done the drive!

This is Cape Smokey I think. I think the elevation is about 530 metres above sea level (or about 1560 feet) and the initial ascend starts just above sea level. Had that car in third gear all the way up...... and again, nice twists up the road.

Here's a view of the road going down from a lookout point looking out over Pleasant Bay. Unfortunately the picture doesn't do any justice - you just have to be there to do the drive.

When J. MacDonald and Friends were trying to figure out the name of that wonderous land, someone had a great idea. They put all the letters into a hat and drew out 3 of them. The results would be the new name of the place. So they did just that...
1st letter is pulled and the guy says, "C, eh?"
2nd letter is pulled and the guy says, "N, eh?"
3d letter is pulled and the guy says, "D, eh?"
And Canada had its name...
