Default Scorching hot DS/rear rotor after rear rotor replacement.

I've searched teh wonderful world of info known as the archives. Here are the cliff notes:

Had rear rotors/brakes/bearings replaced Saturday.

DS/rear Wheel almost fell off while driving on the highway Saturday night. (I assume he forgot the cotter pin?)

Flatbedded home.

Took it back Monday and the guy said it "was all better" a couple hours later (with no apology or concern for my life).

Drove it last night for 10 highway miles (very little braking) and the DS/rear rotor was smoking hot while the PS/rear was barely warm.

Sooo I've had it with this local POS shop. I don't want to go to court or anything. I simply want my car normal for as cheap as possible.

From what I've read, it could be sticking calipers, hanging ebrake, or a shot bearing (aka botched replacement of the bearing).

Does anyone have a best guess on what it could be? or what my next move should be?

TIA

Default I can only say what I would do.

I would have done it myself. But lets assume for a minute I was you. I would get in touch with the manager or owner of that shop you had it done at. You need to explain the problems start to finish. Then give them a choice. They either put their best guy on it and fix it, if it is the bearings burnt up, replace them free of charge. Or, you will take it to the dealer and have it corrected and you will submit the bill to them. If that is a problem you will have your attorney contact them for further recourse.

Default This shop is owned/ran by one guy with about 4 employees.

I've been dealing with the owner since day one and he doesn't seem at all concerned with my issue. The past two contacts with him, it seemed like he was trying to shift blame from his shop to my car.

I've proposed that he pay for another shop to take care of this issue and he denied reimbursement. I don't want to go to court because any amount lost here won't warrant the money for legal help.

He has offered to take another look at it by one of his "master" mechanics. (i.e. the same guy that has been working on it)

If I go back to him, I guess I'll tell him to verify that the springs are inside the caliper, relube the pins in the carrier, check e-brake cable for tension, and put a new bearing because the other one was probably fried in Saturday nights near accident experience.

Thanks again.

Default Sounds like they pushed back teh piston only on one side and than decided to pump

the e brake whcih would cause the excessive pressure... Just push the pistons back and readjust your cables. Ask for your money back... or BBB
