Default Scratches and rubbing compound. Buffing Questions

I have several scratches on my car that aren't to bad, but a couple on my hood i tried to fix. I followed the instructions and put some rubbing compound on them and now it just looks like a scuff mark.

How can i fix this and will a professional buffing job clear it up? I have acess to a buffer but am afraid I'll burn the paint off or something, which i've heard can happen if you don't know what your doing.

One more thing... I debadged and a few little spots the clear coat came off the paint doesn't look the same in the area where I debadged when looked from @ 3 feet away.

What are options pay, try myself, or i'm screwed in my rubbing compound mishap.

Thanks

Default The problem with rubbing compound is that is may have burned through the clear coat.

If that's the case, you'll want it professionally repaired. This may require repainting the clear.
You can try using some Meguiars Medium Cut Cleaner, Fine Cut Cleaner, and Swirl Remover to reduce the "haze" caused by the rubbing compound. But be aware that this may not provide the same shine as was there with the clear coat.

Sounds like you were a bit to harsh w/ the rubbing compound. Was it fine or coarse grit?

Default Fine but I may have been harsh. It was a scuff to begin with from some debris on the HWY.......

How much do you think it would cost to fix professionally?

Not sure of repair cost. Maybe try a coat of good wax too see if it looks any better?
