Default the seat warmer is burning my butt!

Hi Folks,

three months ago I bought a '98 A4 TQM and I quickly added an APR chip. I love driving this car! Anyway, I've been using the seat warmer on and off for a few weeks but two days ago it began frying my hide on any setting above 2. The "back" section remains comfortable but the "seat" section really fries. I've had it up to 5 before with no prior problems and my passengers say their warmer works fine.. Has anyone experienced this? any thoughts on a remedy?

thanks and best wishes

It's about to go dead. Common problem.

Default There can't be anything wrong with it, cuz mine is doing the same. ;)

I refuse to believe that my wonderful butt header is dying. If I don't think about it maybe it won't happen

Default If it's really hot at one or more point sources, you've got shorts...

If it's really hot at one or more point sources, you've got shorts. You probably put your knee on it to reach across to the other seat or footwell and broke a contact in it. If that's the case, you'll need to replace the element. A new one is around $200, labor at a upholstery shop will probably run in the $100 range.
