Default Sedan v. Avant rear seat debate exhibit a. (pertaining to an earlier discussion)

For those of you that were wondering, the Avant does have more room in the back seat. I know that I said I would measure them both, and come back with details, BUT, I think that these pictures might shed some light without hours of measuring:

The Avant:

The sedan:

2 things to keep in mind here... The car seats are the same in both cars. From what I can tell, the seat bottom is deeper in the Avant, the seat back farther to the rear of the car than in the sedan. The front seats are not in the same position between the 2 cars, in the Avant (grey interior), it is actually farther BACK on it's rails than the sedan (black interior) While both cars might have the same leg room on paper (although I definitly recall seeing something to the effect that the Avant has 2 inches more leg room than the sedan, but without proof, I can't say that right now), the Avant definitly has more body room.

Default wouldn't that mean that the seat is smaller?

That wouldn't necessarily change the amount of leg room, just distance from the edge of seat to back of seat

Default Easier said than done. Besides, its just dirt. Comes right off with a little cleaner. That, and...

it's the wife's car. My car doesn't seem to be quite as bad, mainly because his feet don't touch the seat back because he has more room ;-)

Default I was looking from the back of the front seat to the base of the rear seat, and they both look the

same....its hard to judge from those pics, I thin numbers will settle this, but honestly Im not trying to flame....it just looks the same to me.

Default Right. The pic suggests that there is more body room.

Also, he said the avant seat could go forward more, while the sedan seat is all the way up. Thus, if they look the same in the pic, the Avant has more potential leg room.

Default that's exactly the point. The distance from the leading edge of the seat bottom to the front seats..

is about the same, but because the seat is deeper, you end up with a lot more room.
