i've been leary cruising over 75mph on long trips due to the relatively 'high' rpm's (3400).
i mentioned this today after an oil change and the service mgr. laughed at me. he said they love rpm's and have no trouble cruising up around 90mph. i have a 97 1.8 5spd.
do you guys typically fly around these speeds on the freeways? i guess i'm just getting old.

but German cars are typically designed for high speed cruising. Afterall they are made for the Autobahn.

It'll happily spin all day long at 3-4K. On long trips I generally set the cruise control at 78 and go for hours. On a Tech football game weekend I average 30-31 MPG too.
Remember autobahn speeds are typically 85-90 mph... they're meant to be driven that way.
